An Evening in Nauvoo

After our visit to the used book shop Wednesday afternoon, we drove down Warsaw Street to see if we could find the home of the Curleys, a couple who recently moved to Nauvoo from Helena. They live on the corner of Warsaw and Parley Streets. There they were, working out in their yard, so we pulled in and stopped for a visit. They have a nice home with a beautiful yard and gardens, and they love living in Nauvoo. In the course of our conversation with them, they told us about a lecture being given that night by Susan Easton Black, a BYU professor who lives in Nauvoo part of the year. We were delighted to attend this one-hour event in the theater at the LDS Visitors' Center, where she spoke about the life of Lorenzo Snow. This seamed especially fitting, since I had visited the birthplace of President Snow while in the Kirtland area and he is buried close to the Wheelwrights in the Brigham City, Utah cemetery.

As we left the lecture, we drove up Mulholland Street and stopped to watch the sunset over the river from the temple. It was a beautiful ending to a beautiful day.
