Exploring Nauvoo

Photographs: Wilford Woodruff home, Heber C. Kimball home, old school house, Webb blacksmith shop.

We spent most of the day on Wednesday, May 26th, exploring the restored homes and shops of historic Nauvoo. John Taylor's home sits between the old print shop and the post office. The Webb Brothers blacksmith shop is on the corner of Parley and Granger Streets. Wilford Woodruff's home is on the same block with the Heber C. Kimball home and Charles and Peggy Patten's property. Some of the old original homes are now being used to house missionaries, and there are many newer homes (built in the old Nauvoo style) that also house the over 300 couple and sister missionaries serving in the area.

We also spent some time perusing the newer shops on Mulholland Street and spent an especially long time in the used bookstore, run by a direct descendant of Joseph Smith Sr. Of course, we bought several books.
